We all know that assumed nominee for the Democratic Party, Joe Biden has largely run on the idea that he is a moderate, and one that brings back a cohesive and united America.
However, as his campaign continues, there are few doubts that the man is moving farther and farther to the left with each passing week. After all, what kind of moderate quotes a communist Chinese mass murderer?
During a virtual fundraising event with former Obama administration senior advisor Valerie Jarrett on Monday, Biden was noted to say, “We’ve got to get real economic relief into women’s hands now.” And to give his reasoning, the presumed nominee quoted what he called “an old Chinese proverb,” according to The Atlantic’s Edward-Isaac Dovere.
He said, “Women hold up half the sky.”
However, as luck would have it, this quote is so ancient after all. In fact, it was said during the 20th century by none other than one of the world’s most notorious mass murderers, Mao Zedong.
If you weren’t much of a world history scholar, Mao was the former leader of the Communist Party of China, and one who paved the way for the nation’s current political views.
The infamous leader made this quote popular in China after the Chinese revolution some 70 years ago, allowing it to be used in several propaganda campaigns for the party in factories today.
But this particular phrase, nor any of his others, is not what Mao is most known for. Instead, it is the millions and millions of lives that were extinguished under his rule that gives his name any sort of credence.
According to the Heritage Foundation, who cited the “Black Book of Communism” in 2010, it is “estimated” that “65 million Chinese died as a result of Mao’s repeated, merciless attempts to create a new ‘socialist’ China” during his reign.
Now, some would say theses estimations aren’t accurate. Those typically assume that the number is closer to 45 million deaths. This amount is derived from Frank Dikotter’s book “Mao’s Great Famine” and notes that nearly all of these deaths occurred between 1958 and 1962 while Mao ruled China.
In either case, the number of dead does not paint a pretty picture for the late former leader of China. In fact, they far outweigh the 6 million that Germany’s Nazi leader Adolf Hitler accrued under his rule just a few decades earlier.
By no means does that indicate that we should forgive Hitler’s trespasses. However, it is interesting to note the number of times that our patriotic President Trump has been compared to the Nazi leader just for doing something as simple as adopting the use of the eagle, which is a long-held American symbol, in his campaigns. (By the way, ancient Rome also used the eagle’s emblem.)
And yet Biden can quote Mao, who killed tens of millions more, and it’s perfectly fine.
Yes, yes, I know. There is definitely room for the argument that, with Biden’s slipping mind and utter inability to think for himself, he might not have really even known who this quote was originally made by.
And that’s entirely possible. However, I guarantee at least one person within his campaign knew precisely where it came from, if not fed him the line on purpose.
Anita Dunn, who is an adviser to Biden, has been noted to praise the likes of Mao in the past, even calling him one of her two “favorite political philosophers” – the other is Mother Teresa. And this is not the first time Biden has used this exact quote, either.
I also find it interesting to note that the very next week after his campaign goes on record about vowing to not only “rebuild this nation – we’ll transform it,” Biden uses a Maoist quote.
If that isn’t proof of where Biden is taking this nation, I don’t know what is.
We are in the midst of culture war, with the left doing everything possible to “transform” our nation into something we can no longer recognize. Time-honored and wholly patriotic symbols, such as the majestic eagle and even our traditional Stars and Stripes, are being canceled. Historical monuments, businesses, and even homes are being burned to the ground.
And yet, Biden is over here saying ‘It’s all good, I’m taking America straight into Communism,’ even if he doesn’t know it himself.
