Brian Stelter Rips Into Washington Examiner Correspondent for Calling out CNN on Ethics

CNN’s Brian Stelter took it upon himself to be a beacon for morality when he lit into Washington Examiner Chief Congressional Correspondent Susan Ferrechio for calling out mainstream media outlets, such as Stelter’s, for their “ethics” in reporting on the supposed connection between President Donald Trump and Russia in the form of collusion.

The stories which played almost around the clock on major networks such as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and NBC have since been debunked as no more than conspiracy theories, and some of the anchors that peddled them have had their credibility severely damaged.

According to the Daily Wire, Ferrechio was making the point that the mainstream networks seem to have suddenly been struck with “media ethics” when it comes to verifying accusations made against those in power, since evidence has come to light that paints Democrat nominee Joe Biden.

Biden and his family have been the subject of many news stories since it was discovered that a laptop, verified by multiple United States intelligence agencies as containing information not provided by Russians, pointed to Hunter Biden bringing Russians, Chinese, and other international businesses into business dealings with himself and his father, profiting heavily on his connection to the White House.

Stelter, however, breezed past the potentially earth-shattering news about the Biden family and railed against social media platforms for not censoring conservatives more than they already are. This diatribe seemed ill-timed, considering that The New York Post’s original articles were almost entirely shut down by major social platforms, and their account has been suspended by Twitter, thanks to reporting on the anti-Democrat Party story.

However, according to Stelter, conservatives are likely censored from social media and Google because of “asymmetric nastiness” and insinuated that Team Biden has done nothing but run] a clean campaign devoid of lies and half-truths, while Trump’s campaign has been intentionally misinforming voters.

Stelter said he believes conservatives are being censored because there is “more (bulls***) being spread by the Right. It’s sad, hopefully, it’ll stop, but right now it’s true.” Ferrechio wasn’t ready to let that statement go, however.

“This is not last year’s news,” she retorted at the CNN host. “It’s whether or not his son was coordinating to get him to talk to these Ukrainian oligarchs, and he was benefiting from it. It’s really dirty, and it needs to be looked at.”

Stelter, however, claims that “newsrooms in America are very careful about this stuff,” and have to work slowly and cautiously when vetting the news they put out.

“I think bottom line is we don’t know what is real and what is fake in these emails, if there is anything real in them,” Stelter said.

“Yeah, but that didn’t stop [anyone] from reporting the Mueller and the dossier and all that stuff,” Ferrechio shot back.

“I know you’re bitter. I understand that you have a lot of resentment about that,” Stelter dismissed Ferrechio.

Now we have ethics,” Ferrechio mocked.

“Don’t you dare,” an angry Stelter scolded the reporter. “Don’t you dare act like newsrooms didn’t have ethics in 2017 and 2018!”

“You can ‘don’t dare’ me all you want, Brian,” Ferrechio responded. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years, so say whatever you want. It’s my view, and I have a right to say it.”

“I didn’t discard the Mueller stuff,” she later added. “I was much more skeptical because I knew the sourcing, and I knew where it came from on Capitol Hill, where I have stood in the building for the past few decades,” she said. “I had real reason to doubt that stuff, and I constantly did, and it turned out a lot of it was a bunch of bunk.”

“I think everybody deserved to look at the Mueller stuff, and everyone should look at this and give Biden the scrutiny,” Ferrechio said. ” … He’s not running for president of the Glee Club; he’s running for President of the United States, and this is serious.”

.@susanferrechio destroys Stelter in this interview. When she challenged the media on ethics, Stelter fumed, “Don’t you dare” twice.

“You can don’t dare me all you want, Brian. I’ve been doing this for 30 years, so say whatever you want. It’s my view.”
