Governor Gavin Newsom of California loves the power to control people. His version of freedom wraps around what he believes to be right. To him, it does not matter what people are affected or the people that he may hurt. He just loves to pass laws, by executive order, to control people. And any person found violating those laws or rules will be subject to harsh penalties and possible jail time.
Newsom wants power, and he will do anything he can to get it. The pandemic gave him the excuse he was looking for to seize more power for himself. This time he has crossed over into the educational system and targeted students that appear to be skipping school. Except, the students he is targeting are the ones that are doing their work and attending zoom classes.
The student in question is Merek Mastrov. He is a 12-year old boy that has been threatened with jail time if he misses any more zoom classes. Newsom and his secret police would have everyone believe that he is a person being sought for murder.
The new law that Newsom signed dictates that any student that misses class will be branded as a criminal and hauled off to jail. The young boy has only missed three half-hour classes. That amounts to only 90 minutes of class time. During the school year, most kids miss days of classes with no penalty. But Newsom wants to bully a kid into making himself feel powerful.
The threat that online classes bring is the problem of truancy. Kids have a way of skipping out on school if they are not there in person. Merek’s absences marked as unexcused, which made him a criminal in California.
His parents received a letter that was threatening them and their son. Merek’s father stated, “[Merek] can become a truant of the state, and he could be arrested. I said, ‘Are you going to come and try to arrest my son at my home, or fine me for not getting him to his Zoom class perfectly, on time every day?’”
Newsom controls people through fear. These laws set people against each other. The Principal of the school was obligated to say that “The letter is part of our responsibility to the state for our student attendance review boards, as always, the schools have a responsibility to ensure students are engaged and learning.”
Her answer was reasonably defensive. No one is disputing the fact that students need to be held accountable for being in school. What is in dispute is the harshness of Newsom’s law. It seems obvious to everyone that Newsom’s time would be better spent controlling the wildfires instead of chasing after a small boy.
Merek’s dad stated that “Obviously, we’re in a pandemic, and Gov. (Gavin) Newsom is trying to manage it, but if the state of California is really going to spend a lot of time focusing on arresting 12-year-old children for missing 90 minutes of school in 10 months, it’s ridiculous.”
The old way of tracking school attendance worked just fine. There was no need to threaten the child with a criminal record and jail time. Even the Principal would admit later on that the parents should have just been called.
Newsom’s socialist rule of California is driving the state into the ground. He makes sure to remove any reference to Republican’s advertising in the state as he oversaw the removal of a Trump sign along with one of the state highways. He claimed that it was a distraction for drivers. Newsom is the menace of California’s greatness.
The very notion of threatening a good student with jail time for missing 90 minutes of virtual classes is absurd, and someone needs to answer for the lawless harm that is being done to the kids of America. Newsom and the other Democrats will dodge the blame because they know deep down that their actions cause a lot of pain for millions of Americans. It is time for the liberals to wake up and realize that the Democrats are using them to gain more power over the people. And before long, they will have so much power that it will be impossible to bring them to justice.
