In what could be the biggest exodus of social media giants since their inception, Americans, especially conservatives, have decided to do what customers do best, and take their business elsewhere, thanks to big tech censorship.
What could have previously been ignored as potentially coincidence, or an honest difference of opinion on the part of the business owners in Silicon Valley (i.e. billionaires who want to prop themselves up) has become increasingly hard to put behind us, and people are looking, fervently even, for a substitution.
Conservatives have been flocking in droves to the alternative social platform, being called the “new Twitter” and it’s got some of those on the left, who seem to have rather liked having us hooked into an information pipeline they controlled, pretty out of sorts about it.
During a segment talking about the political right and how we’re having such a hard time handling the election results, CNN’s Pamela Brown suggested that the exodus away from where liberals can control and manipulate us is a “threat to democracy” and that the more free the speech, the worse the potential outcome (like … not believing CNN, maybe).
Brian Stelter chimed in, saying that smaller conservative news channels on television were taking over the ratings and getting more viewers thanks in part to President Donald Trump clashing with Fox News over their coverage of the election.
“There are these smaller right-wing channels, like Newsmax and One America News, that are further to the right than FOX News. And Trump is promoting those channels right now,” Stelter said, seeming to indicate that diversity of opinion is something the viewers should shrink from and consider a threat.
“Newsmax has seen an extraordinary surge in viewership,” Stelter went on “Still a lot lower than CNN or FOX. But this is a channel that had 50,000 viewers before the election. Now sometimes a half million viewers. There’s clearly an audience for a channel that’s so far right that they deny Biden is the president-elect, that they promote voter fraud innuendo all day long. So some FOX fans are going off to other channels instead.”
Stelter seems to have conveniently left out that Newsmax is beginning to overtake CNN in ratings since the exodus from Fox News began in earnest.
“I think, big picture, Pamela, here is the concerning trend line here. People are going more and more into their own echo chambers, more into their own bubbles, especially Trump voters,” Stelter said. “There’s this new social media app, called Parler, getting a lot of attention. Because conservatives are leaving, saying they’re leaving Twitter and Facebook, going off to Parler because they believe Parler is a safer space for them.”
“What we’re seeing is even more of a bunker mentality in right-wing media,” Stelter continued. “Ultimately, that’s not good for the country.”
“No, it is not good,” Brown responded. “It is a threat to democracy that these people are in echo chambers and they’re getting fed a diet of lies essentially.
“Lies, that’s what it is,” Stelter ended, dramatically.
So, you’ve been told what to do: Don’t leave CNN, don’t leave Facebook. Don’t pretend that you should be parsing out information for yourself, and certainly don’t ever think that you should be making your own decisions about things as important as who runs the country You’re not equipped to make those kinds of decisions like the ivy league suit wearers are. They’ll tell you what you need to know (or they’ll tell you you don’t deserve to know) and you’ll take what they offer, and you’ll like it. And if you don’t, you guessed it, you’re a lying, blue color, dog-faced pony soldier, racist, deplorable. Or worse yet, a Republican.
