On Tuesday Vladimir Putin watched the departure of the new Belgorod submarine via a teleconference from a military shipyard in St. Petersburg as the sub was launched out of northwestern Russia.
The submarine, which is also known as Special Project 09852, is attracting plenty of attention.
Carl Bildt, co-chair of the European Council on Foreign Relations, tweeted Tuesday.
Russia launches its special purpose deep diving and second nuclear strike submarine at the Severodvinsk shipyards today. A very special ship. https://t.co/BiloWh818p

Moscow’s development of nuclear-powered weapons has been closely watched by the United States over the years. According to reports, The Russian Navy said the submarine is designed to carry <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oAKgM8CoaM” rel=”noopener noreferrer” target=”_blank”>Poseidon drones</a>.
The concern with this type of weapon is that it can cause deadly title waves around coastal areas anywhere in the world.
The concerns are that Russia could be adding a “doomsday” weapon capable of unleashing deadly tidal waves.
