Nancy Pelosi claims to be a politician of the people. However, her latest remarks have begun to show who she really is – someone determined to completely divide the country.
She’s now accusing Senate Republicans of trying to get away with the murder of George Floyd’s death. Oh, so what one cop in Minneapolis did is now the fault of every Senate Republican? That sounds manipulative, but what did we expect from Pelosi.
Republicans and Democrats are working on leasing reform bills. Pelosi is taking the lead for the Democratic bill in the house while Sen. Tim Scott is taking the lead on the Republican bill in the Senate.
There are major differences between the two bills. Democrats are looking to eliminate qualified immunity for police officers while the Republican bill is maintaining that immunity.
Obviously, there are some major disagreements regarding police reform. It would be possible for politicians to argue reasonably.
That’s not Nancy Pelosi’s style, however. Instead, she chose to go on CBS radio and claim that Sen. Tim Scott, a black Republican, is trying to get away with murdering George Floyd.
Say what, now?
(her comment comes at about 2:30)
When asked whether Democrats and Republicans are going to be able to reach a compromise on legislation as it pertains to the police brutality that has been seen in the wake of George Floyd’s death, Pelosi pointed the finger at Republicans and said, “They admit that and have some suggestions that are worthy of consideration — but so far, they were trying to get away with murder, actually — the murder of George Floyd.”
Pelosi is beginning to sound like so many of the freshmen Democrats who speak without thinking of their words. However, when she was asked to apologize for accusing Senators of murder, she said she “absolutely, positively” would not do so.
So, now, we have the Speaker of the House accusing a Republican black senator of murder. If anyone would know the gravity of the death of George Floyd, it would be Tim Scott. He goes through life as a black man and understands the struggles. However, he also knows right from wrong and he understands the importance of allowing police officers to do their job.
No one is arguing that police reform isn’t necessary. However, no one should be accusing anyone of murder, either. Police reform wasn’t on the table prior to George Floyd’s death. To call Republican senators out for murder and more specifically, George Floyd’s murder, is insane.
When Pelosi was pointedly asked whether she felt that Tim Scott was working in good faith to get a bill that would help the police reform. This is the same bill that Democrats and even Pelosi have deemed “unsalvageable.” Pelosi didn’t want to answer the question about Tim Scott. Instead, she turned the table and tried to blame Mitch McConnell, who isn’t the one authoring the bill.
Meanwhile, as Pelosi accuses Scott and the rest of the Republican Senators of murder, Scott has been dealing with daily death threats – and he played some out loud at the Republicans’ weekly luncheon so that others could hear.
While he’s not new to racist attacks and threats, he has also pointed out that they have recently gotten more aggressive. Gee, could that be because the Speaker of the House just called him a murderer? And, more specifically, a man who murdered a black person?
Obviously, Scott nor any other Republican was to blame for the death of George Floyd. Further, Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic party needs to stop referring to Floyd’s death as “murder.”
Murder constitutes premeditation. The officer in Minneapolis did not go into the situation with the intention of killing George Floyd – and to say otherwise is absurd.
Nancy Pelosi is the epitome of what’s wrong with the country. She cannot have a calm conversation with anyone. Instead, she wants to point her finger and call people murderers – the same people she works with on a daily basis to try to make the country a better place.
