Will 2021 Be the End of Pelosi’s Reign?

(UnitedVoice.com) â Members of the Democratic Party went into the 2020 election with the confidence they were going to expand their House majority, take the Senate, and win the White House. The first two didnât happen and the presidential race is still undecided. Instead, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) saw her majority shrink, now some are wondering if weâll see the end of her reign in 2021.
On January 3, the House of Representatives is set to meet for its new term. Democrats, who have been voting by proxy since May, were told they must return to Capitol Hill to vote for a new rule package and Pelosiâs bid for speaker. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) slammed the Left for the power grab.
Pelosi is fine with House Democrats skipping work if the votes are about legislation, but in January she will demand every Democrat show upâin personâto vote for her for Speaker.
Her message is clear: her power is more important than anything else.

Could she be booted from her position as speaker? Absolutely. In 2019, 15 members of her party didnât vote for her bid for speaker. She won 220 to McCarthyâs 192 votes. This time, around she only has 222 total members in her party, McCarthy has 212. If 15 members of the Democratic caucus refuse to vote for her this time around, she could lose.
